В 1976/77 учебном году университет работал в составе 12 подразделений: отделений наук - биологических, гуманитарных, физических, социальных; школ - богословской, бизнеса, библиотечной, медицинской, педагогической, юридической, административно-социальной службы; колледжа. В университете обучалось 8 тыс. студентов, работало свыше 1100 преподавателей. При нём имеются Восточный институт, издательство. В библиотеке университета (основан в 1892) свыше 3,3 млн. тт.
